Doherty told to stop spending spree
Shannen Doherty has been told by her accountant that her spending is out of control while she in the middle of planning her dream wedding.
The Beverly Hills 90210 is shown having her credit cards confiscated by her financial advisers in her new reality TV show Shannen Says and told to put a stop “to the clothes, the shoes, the eating out”.
But Shannen, 41, pushes ahead with her extravagant plans for her wedding to photographer Kurt Iswarienko and decides she is going to have three dresses to wear on the day.
Shannen is horrified when she is told she can only have a meal in a restaurant once a week, and complains: “They took away my credit cards, they took three away… turned me into a 14-year-old.”
The actress and former Dancing With The Stars contestant is shown trying on dresses with her mother Rosa, and reveals she wants two dresses for her big day, although she struggles to find what she is looking for.
She demands: “I want princess, I want ball gown, I want feathers!”
When mother Rosa tries to help by offering Shannen her wedding dress, the star decides she will have that altered and wear it as well as the two dresses she had planned.
Shannen declares on the show: “I’m ready to say I do,” while her weary fiance Kurt jokes: “I’m ready for the honeymoon.”

Shannen Doherty Is Gaining Weight To Get Pregnant
The former “Beverly Hills, 90210″ star wed photographer Iswarienko in October and their life as newlyweds has been documented for her reality show Shannen Says.
Earlier this month, the 40 year old confessed she wasn’t ready to start a family yet, telling PR.com, “We both want children, but more importantly, we want each other and we want to be with each other. Whatever else happens is fate and a blessing, but right now I think we’re both so happy being married and together, and that’s our focus.”
But now it appears Doherty’s maternal clock has kicked into high gear – she’s now consciously putting on weight so she’s better fit to handle pregnancy.
She tells People magazine, “If I’m able to have a child because I’m a little fatter, then great!
I feel a peace I’ve never felt before. Now I’m ready for the next chapter in my life.”
And the couple is already thinking ahead – Doherty admits they’re currently building a house with a nursery.

Shannen Doherty: I’m not a reality star
Shannen Doherty says she is an actor “first and foremost” and not a reality star.
The Beverly Hills 90210 bad girl appears in new series Shannen Says about the lead up to her wedding to photographer Kurt Iswarienko.
But the 41-year-old does not like the label of reality star despite having cameras following her around for hours at a time.
“I’m 100 percent in denial,” she told Life & Style. “I don’t consider myself a reality star. First and foremost, I am an actor and always will be.”
“For me, it was a documentary about a woman getting married and all the stress, pressure and fights that go along with it.
“It’s not like I’ve turned to reality TV; Shannen Says is about this one particular time in my life. It’s like the best wedding video in the world.
“Kurt and I made a pact that we’d be completely honest. We didn’t give a thought to how we wanted to be perceived. Not everyone will like me, but that’s okay because I’m just being me.”

Shannen Doherty: On her reality show and gay BFFs
NUNN ON ONE: TV by Jerry Nunn, Windy City Times 2012-04-25
Actress Shannen Doherty grew up on television before our very eyes starting at age 11 on Little House on the Prairie then playing a breakout role as Brenda on Beverly Hills 90210. She was unforgettable as Heather Duke in the movie Heathers then made magic once again as Prue in Charmed.
She returns to her roots on WE tv’s hour-long series Shannen Says, documenting her trip down the aisle with photographer Kurt Iswarienko.
This is what she had to say about it…
Windy City Times: Heyyy, Shannen. So this is not your first time at the reality-show rodeo.
Shannen Doherty: Yes, I’ve done reality shows, in a sense. I did Scare Tactics and Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty, but it was never about me. I was simply a host or I was guiding somebody else through their own real process.
I’ve never ever, ever opened my life up. So this is a whole new thing for me—and certainly a whole new thing for my now-husband.
WCT: Who’s idea was it to do this show?
SD: It was mine, and it was shared with my husband as well. It was one of those moments where we were on vacation and maybe we had one too many margaritas and thought it would be kind of interesting to do something together and work together.
We’re very, very big fans of Anthony Bourdain. We love his show, No Reservations; also, The Deadliest Catch is one of our favorite shows. I remember watching that show and thinking, “Wow, they do it right.”
We were kind of intrigued by the idea of bringing that sort of different kind of a quality to celebrity reality TV. That’s what first started the thought process behind doing it. We knew that we were getting married, it became even more evident that it was something that we should do just to sort of chronicle this time in our lives and let future brides and future grooms know that not [it's] just you that goes through the stress.
WCT: When did you first meet Kurt?
SD: I met Kurt on a photo shoot. I requested him to shoot me for a cover of a magazine. There was instant chemistry. I think we may have finally actually started dating two months after that. He said to me, “I’ve missed you since I was a child.” And it was just sort of a very poetic thing—that we had, in another life, known each other. There was such a connection there that it was about time we finally got together.
WCT: Several cast members from Beverly Hills 90210 are working the reality-show circuit. Is everyone supportive of everyone else’s projects?
SD: I think that you have to be supportive of each other and just in my opinion supportive of anybody who’s in the same field of yours. I happen to watch Tori [Spelling]‘s show. And I think it’s incredibly charming and endearing. I did the new 90210 with Jennie [Garth] and there was something very different about our friendship. We were able to look at each other as grown women and really acknowledge that we liked who the other person was. So I think her show’s going to be great. As far as the others, I speak to Brian [Austin Green] all the time. And I saw Ian [Ziering] a week ago and it was awesome.
WCT: Tori Spelling has the “gunkles” on her reality show.
SD: She does.
WCT: Do you have a gay BFF on yours?
SD: I have several gay best friends. One of them—Timmy, who is a fashion stylist in New York—is on the show and also there is my wedding coordinator, David Tutera, who is gay.
WCT: In one scene, David Tutera called you a “stubborn thing.”
SD: He’s a Taurus, and everybody knows Tauruses are the most stubborn people there are. So that’s a stubborn man being even more stubborn with me, which is interesting. I’m not stubborn. I do think that there’s a clear difference between determined and stubborn, as Webster’s English dictionary would point out as well. I think that’s very telling. I love David and we had a great time. David was cautious in meeting me, too. And I think David’s first reaction to me is everything that he had heard.
WCT: What is the biggest misconception about you?
SD: I guess the biggest misconception would be that I only have one side to me. [That] seems to be the biggest one. People don’t ever consider how old I was when some of the crazier stuff happened, which, by today’s standards, is pretty tame. I have grown up and that there is a softer more vulnerable side or they don’t consider what was behind some of the antics when I was very young. I mean that doesn’t really do them justice nor myself justice.
WCT: How is newlywed life treating you?
SD: Real-time things couldn’t be better. I’m slightly exhausted. I’m in the middle of writing this very serious paper and quite stressed over it. So that’s the current state. But married life is amazing and I can only say that because of my partner, Kurt.
It’s the little things. It’s when he comes home and the first thing he does is comes in my office and wraps his arms around me and says, “I love you. I missed you” even though he was only gone for two hours. It’s a relationship I’ve dreamed about my entire life and it’s the closest thing that I’ve ever had to what my parents had, which was so unbelievably beautiful and special. So, married life is phenomenal.

Shannen Doherty: I was a moron
Shannen Doherty “wouldn’t be where she is today” without her past transgressions. The 40-year-old former Beverly Hills, 90210 actress lived a wild life in the past.
Shannen acknowledges her blunders, but she is happy that she experienced them. “I was an absolute moron,” Shannen told People magazine. “There are moments when I’ll drop my head in my hands and go, ‘What was I thinking?’ But if it weren’t for the mistakes I made, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
Shannen began working in Hollywood at the age of 10 in order to support her family. Her father’s ailing health was a primary concern for the star throughout her childhood and early adult years. “I wanted him to have the best medical care possible,” Shannen explained. “I had to be so responsible in that area of my life that I was acting out in other areas.”
Shannen hopes to repair some of the relationships she’s lost with former confidants. “It’s time people get to know the real me. I burned a lot of bridges and hurt people,” she shared. “I feel a peace I’ve never felt before. Now I’m ready for the next chapter in my life.”

Shannen Doherty shares super self-conscious complex
Apr 24, 2012 1:10 PM by Ashley Lee
Seeing All Sides On Shannen Says
We never thought Shannen Doherty would turn to reality television. However, the self-conscious star shared why she’s airing her wedding journey.
Though Shannen Doherty was married last October, she is revealing her journey down the aisle now on her WE tv reality show — something she never thought she’d do.
“I have absolutely no idea why I decided to do a reality show,” she told People. “Except that, at the time, it seemed like a really good idea to document everything that you go through when planning a wedding.”
She added, “Planning a wedding in seven weeks is stressful enough for anybody, but when you’re filming a show, it makes it 10 times harder because you have so many other opinions that, perhaps, you didn’t need.”
Doherty shares that the episodes aren’t just picking out tablecloths and trying on wedding dresses — but conquering a fear that the self-conscious star has never faced head-on.
“I think the reality show is actually going to show people who I am — Shannen, not the characters that I play and not the girl who goes on talk shows and still plays a character, because she’s always been self-conscious and doesn’t want people to actually know her that well. The show definitely is me, and I think it shows the good, the bad and the ugly. It shows all sides.”
So how does she feel about it? “It’s actually a little scary, because it makes me far more vulnerable, because it’s me personally that you’re judging, as opposed to a character. Scary!”
Shannen Says airs on WE tv on Sundays at 10 p.m. EST.

Shannen Doherty Talks Misconceptions, Mistakes, and Lindsay Lohan – Exclusive
Shannen Doherty is coming back to television. The 90210 icon, 40, stars in the new reality show Shannen Says which follows her and groom-to-be, famed photographer Kurt Iswarienko.
Celebuzz spoke with Shannen about the show, which gives a glimpse into her life after one of the most popular shows on the small screen.
In the first episode, one of Shannen’s opening lines is, “You think you know me? Everybody does.” So we asked, what does she think some of the biggest misconceptions are about her serialized life?
“Probably that people think I am the same person I was at 18 or 22,” Shannen told Celebuzz. “I think that it’s bizarre that people don’t realize that I was a kid — and now I am a woman who has grown up, quite a bit. People grow and they evolve. They change and they settle down. When you’re done testing the water and pushing the boundaries, you become more comfortable with yourself.”
Continued Doherty:
That whole time period in your life back then is all about finding out who you are and in the process you make mistakes. You fall flat on your face, everyone does. If you didn’t make mistakes you wouldn’t be human and you wouldn’t have an interesting life as far as I’m concerned! They just don’t seem to ever cut me a break and think, ‘Oh, maybe she’s grown up,” and that is definitely the biggest misconception of me. That applies to the show. I wanted to do a show that was really honest, authentic — and truthful.
One star who has had her fair share of mistakes is Lindsay Lohan, 25, who is on the cusp of another career comeback. The paparazzi have — literally — documented her every stumble. Given what Shannen told us — that you “fall flat on your face, everyone does” — we asked if she sympathized with the Mean Girl star’s trials and tribulations?
I don’t follow the gossip or any of that, so I don’t even know what is happening in that girl’s life right now. I do know what she was facing, and I do think that living your life in the public eye is incredibly hard, but I also think it’s something we take on. She continues to take it on — and with that comes a sense of responsibility and decorum.
Shannen continued:
[Lindsay] is still very young. I was young and I made mistakes as we all do. Yes, we do have to have some sympathy, but we also have have to have a sense of responsibility and accountability. I think most people in the world are forgiving, but when you keep making the same mistakes over and over again and you keep apologizing for it but you never learn from it, then I think people are not forgiving because your apologies don’t bring truth. I don’t know if that’s the case with her, but my heart definitely goes out to anyone– whether it is Lindsay Lohan or Joe Shmoe– who is struggling, or has family issues, or anything else. I think you find somebody that you look up to or mentor you and learn from them.
As an industry veteran, Shannen also offered young stars some advice to deal with the paparazzi.
“What [the paparazzi] want is a shot of you doing something awful, and if they are not getting it they usually get bored and they won’t harass you as much,” she said. “So just conduct yourself properly and you won’t have as many problems. If you’re conducting yourself properly, some may want a shot or two and some may cross the line occasionally, but its not as bad as some of these kids right now. It’s what you put out there.”
Or… bargain with them! Shannen told Celebuzz how she has dealt with being hounded.
I was just in New York promoting [Shannen Says] and a paparazzi was following us on a bicycle. We’re in traffic, there’s no way we can lose him. So I pullover and I had the driver ask him, ‘If she gets out and takes a picture will you leave her alone?’ and he said yes. So I got out of the car, took the picture and he rode off into the sunset or whatever the hell he went to his computer to upload the photo. He respected my space and my privacy, and I think if you hold yourself to a certain standard and if you treat people with respect and kindness, most of the time they will treat you back the same. It’s a lesson I’ve learned with age and personal growth.
Shannen shared so much more with us, so be sure to come back to Celebuzz next week where she shares secrets from the show, talks about life now that she’s married — and reminisces about those 90210 days.
Plus, don’t miss Shannen Says when the series premieres on WE tv Tuesday, April 10 at 10 PM EST.
